The gospel can be shared in four phases. Sticking to these phases will keep one on track as you share the gospel. The phases are namely:
- 1) The Law
- 2) The Cross
- 3) Repentance
- 4) Challenge
Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23
John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9
Romans 10:9-10, John 3:4-6, Acts 3:19 Matthew 25:46 Rev 20:14-15
PHASE ONE: THE LAW
Purpose: The law reveals to people that they are sinners
Application: Use four questions that are based on some commandments found in God’s law and even in life in general for example,
- 1) Would you consider yourself to be a good person?
- 2) Do you think you have kept the commandments?
- 3) If God was to judge you today by the commandments do you think you will be innocent or guilty?
- 4) Do you think you would to go to heaven or to hell?
PHASE TWO: THE CROSS
Purpose: To share the Good News for sinners.
Application: Cover the four reasons why the Cross and Our Jesus Christ’s resurrection are Good News for the sinners.
1) Jesus Christ came because God loves us and wants us to save sinners from going to Hell. 2) Jesus Christ died on the Cross in our place , paying the penalty for sin
3) Jesus rose from the dead proving how He alone has authority to pay the penalty for sin. 4) Jesus is alive and offers to free us from the eternal consequences of sin, so we can be in a right relationship with God for eternity.
But to receive God’s forgiveness for your sin and get right with Him you need to repent.
PHASE THREE: REPENTANCE
Purpose: To show how through faith alone a person can be saved.
Application: By turning to God and believing in Jesus’s sacrifice at the Cross and in His resurrection as Lord that is the way for sinners to receive forgiveness for sin. It is simple as ABC:
- A) ADMIT to God you are a sinner
- B) BELIEVE through faith Jesus’s death paid for your sin, and trust the risen Jesus to bring youinto a new relationship with God.
C) COMMIT to surrendering to live your life God’s way from now on. Be prepared to confess and turn from sin.
PHASE FOUR: THE CHALLENGE
Purpose: The final part challenges a person to recognise where they stand before God. Application: The challenge questions
- 1) If you died tonight would you go to heaven or to hell?
- 2) Does that concern you?
- 3) Do you know how to get right with God?
If they are willing lead the person through the sinner’s prayer of repentance receiving Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and encourage them to come to church, to get a bible and read the word, join a home cell group so that they may grow in their relationship with God.
